Edwardes, Sir Michael
(b. 1930) Gen Mgt
South African-born business executive. Chairman of British Leyland from 1977 to 1982, who was appointed to rescue the company from financial difficulties and industrial disruption. His reassertion of the manager’s right to manage led to the coining of the term macho management. He recorded his experiences in Back from the Brink (1983).
